What are the reasons for using an Ultrasound?
Using an Ultrasound enables the injector to have a clear view of an individual’s anatomy showing filler, fatty tissue, bones, muscle and vascular structures. This is beneficial in that it allows the injector to accurately place the appropriate substance in the desired area and to visualize vascular structures which enhances the safety of the injection. It allows for a very personalized injection.
What does the ultrasound do?
The handheld device glides over the skin and uses high frequency sound waves to allow the injector to see beneath the skin, identifying where filler, fatty tissue, bones, muscle and vascular structures are situated.
Why is it recommended?
It is recommended to accurately identify anatomic structures and injectable products, allowing for more precise treatments and reducing the risk of complications.
What are the benefits?
- Precise placement of products such as hyaluronic acid and hyaluronidase
- Visualize blood vessels to safely avoid them when injecting
- Differentiates between previous filler and fat
- Provides a more personalized treatment
Does it hurt?
No, the ultrasound procedure is painless. The device gently glides over the skin.
Will it dissolve my filler?
No, the ultrasound is non-invasive and used solely for diagnostic purposes. It does not dissolve filler. The injector may dissolve the filler with hyaluronidase or lipodissolve for fatty areas.
Will it assess older or migrated filler?
Yes, the ultrasound can detect previously placed filler and identify any that may have shifted over time.
What is vascular occlusion, and how can ultrasound help prevent it?
Vascular occlusion occurs when a blood vessel becomes blocked, which can pose risks during injectable treatments. Ultrasound helps detect blood flow in veins and arteries, assisting in the prevention of such complications.
